Mahabharat War (3102 BC) Was in Real sense the First World War, because
1. About 5.5 Million Soldiers expired in just 18 Days…..!! The casualties are:
 (a)  393,660 Elephants
 (b)  1,181,880 Horses
 (c)   393,660 Rath (cavalry)
 (d)   1,968,300 Soldiers
 (e)   civilian casuality
2. Around 80 Kingdoms Fought in the War….besides  indo-aryan Dynasties.
Ø  Dravidians.            
Ø  Seythians (shaka). 
Ø  Yavans (Greeks)                        
Ø  Chin (Chinese).    
Ø  Huns.                                           
Ø  Persians (Phalava)
Ø   Parthians      fought this War – in a way WHOLE WORLD was there.
3.   Mahabharat War occurred at a time when:
Ø  India was military might.
Ø  India retained more than 1/3rd GDP of the world till 1500 AD.
Ø  India was known as ARYAVART –Abode of Aryans
Ø  India, China were richest countries in the world followed “Heart-throbbing” Persia.
Ø  Europeans were residing in Central Asia.  
At Such a time  80 domestic and Foreign countries collided in KURUKSHETRA.

It is said that the size of Pandavas‘ army in the Kurukshetra war was 7 akshauhinis, and those ofKauravas 11 akshauhinis.
An ‘Akshauhini‘ is a combination of certain count of of elephants, chariots, horses and foot-soldiers. The count is arrived as follows:
One elephant, one chariot, three horses and five foot soldiers form a Patti;Three Pattis form aSena-Mukha; three Sena-Mukhas make a Gulma; three Gulmas a Gana; three Ganas a Vahini; three Vahinis a Pruthana; three Pruthanas a Chamu; three Chamus a Anikini; and ten Anikinis form a Akshauhini. Thus an Akshauhini, by calculation, contains 21,870 elephants, 21,870 chariots, 65,610 chariots, and 109,350 foot soldiers.
