Solar power weapons – Battle of Mahabharata
The rule of battle of Mahabharata was that it would be fought strictly during day light as the weapons used in this battle were mostly could be operated with the help of Solar energy only.

The missiles [Astra] or launching equipments for Astras used in the battle field of Kurukshetra were controlled, operated or guided or may be fueled with solar energy. Hence the whole battle was fought in sun light except at the end of war when Ashwatthama killed the Sons of Pandavas during night. It is described in Mahabharata that Guru Dronacharya trained Kaurvas and Pandavas during day light but he trained his son Ashvatthama to fight with or without Solar energy means he was provided weapons which could be operated with or without solar energy. And thus he was able to kill Pandavas sons during night and Pandavas were not able to save the lives of their sons as they were not having the weapons which could act without sunlight or solar energy or during night.

Another amazing example where Arjuna could not kill Jaidratha as sun was set [though this was his illusion] and Jaidratha came out of his hiding place as he knew that Arjuna was not having weapons which could be operated or triggered without solar energy. But the sun was not set and as soon as Sun reappeared in the horizon Arjuna killed Jaidratha with solar energy operated weapon.
India was a developed country those days. No critic can deny this fact. We were divided into smaller states but each state was self reliant. At that time as a developed nation [may be due to the presence of a very scientifically developed extra terrestrial culture in the region] we knew our responsibility very well and hence developed EVEN war Equipments[weapons] which were operated by sun light.
In those days the Gurus (Acharyas) had subtle knowledge of physics. They were very close to nature. Their observation and experiements had much more depth. Even the modern scientist and expert have not been able to disclose as to how big temples like Konark, Jagannath Temple etc. erected. Even the Indus valley people were urban people and their mastery over technologies are matchless. Besides some exaggeration, which is needed for a piece of literature to make it interesting, there must be something truth in it. Mahabharata and Ramayana are ageless.
